Spirit of the Land - France

The concept of the 7 day workshop will be similar to the workshops carried out in the UK.

The workshop centre is in the village of Durban-Corbieres in the south west of France approximately 45km. west of Perpignan.

The location is a 900 year old property built as part of the Chateau at the peak of the town. Village history indicates that this settlement was formed as a crossing point of the river Berre situated at the end of a long valley - a connection for the Roman and Visigothic trade routes.

Corbieres is situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees within the Cathar area of France that was historically owned by the Catalans and witnessed a great deal of historic movement between the south and the north, from southern Europe and Africa to the northern states of Europe. The movement was also evidenced by the transfer of religious and cultural beliefs and the persecutions that took place as a result.

The workshop will be direct experience of walking the hills and mountains, becoming familiar with the dynamism of the landscape and it’s effect on us today.

Time will be made available for discovery of local or Catalonian sites either as a group or as individuals.

Additional accommodation may be found at the Maison Mesange – a local hotel within the same village of Durban-Corbieres

Fees to be arranged.
