Jeremy Linden established this network following identification of a requirement by local groups and individuals with environmental interests to co-ordinate their efforts through debate and action.

HEN is a non-representational network which enables environmental issues to be discussed by the general membership and a steering group for representation to the Local Strategic Partnership to influence local strategies and development policies.

How about 'One Voice' to represent all of the Environmental issues within Hastings & St Leonards?

The results may be:

• Unity within diverse groups to enable local action in everyone’s best interests.
• Collective skills to affect our future physical and social environment.

Regeneration has raised many issues for local interest groups. In order to participate in local decisions, ‘one environmental voice’ could be the way to represent the local community in the decision making process.

The primary importance is that the Environmental groups act individually but with ‘one voice’. This may be possible through the formation of a network organization representing environmental views within Hastings and St Leonards.

All groups with an environmental interest whether it be physical, social or health matters are invited to respond to a Yahoo e-mail address: hen-net@yahoogroups.com to register support for the idea. If there is sufficient enthusiasm, a meeting will be organized to share opinions and identify an approach.

Together, we have the opportunity to develop an inclusive and local Vision for the environment.

The aim of this network will be to make a collective difference to our environment through positive action’.
